The clean energy bill now moves to the Senate and we're prepared to push for a stronger bill. But we're in trouble: Big Oil and Dirty Coal, and other polluters are sure to outspend us in their lobby efforts to further weaken the bill.

Civil disobiedience is good as long as the source causes no harm to life. I think Lame Deer was up there too at some point, to express his view from a native American perspective. My father walked into Rushmore in protest to the gov National Park shutdown during financial crisis years ago. There is "Charity in Truth", so the pope said yesterday in... Read More Caritas in Veritae" and actions speak louder then words. So thanks for a strong voice, I wish I had a photo of the faces of those founding fathers, and I will look forward to stronger actions by Obama and contributions by Van Jones.

Thanks Nick.... we're far from endorsing coal. In fact, that's why we're doubling our efforts for a stronger bill in the Senate. Read our blog post to learn more... and thanks for the insight.

glad to have you back in nick! the compromises are tough to look at, but with so many republicans voting against the whole idea of climate change, it meant leadership in the house had to accommodate every conservative democrat to get their vote. the senate should be a different animal, so hopefully we activists can fix this bill.
after this is all done, perhaps we can work on election reform!

Thanks, Nick and you are exactly right, Susan. We completely understand, a lot of folks think we're playing soft on the bill. Far from it. We want a strong bill, not one bought off my special interests. That's why we need people like you involved with speaking up.

The ACES bill passed -- whew, what a relief! That was the sentiment early this week, but after taking a closer look at just how close the vote really was and how hard it was to get there, realization quickly set in that the battle of passing a bill in the Senate was just beginning.

The President praises historic energy legislation passed by the House of Representatives. The legislation will help America create green jobs, ensure clean air for our children, move towards energy independence and combat climate change.

George Shears With the passage of ACES in the house, we have successfully gotten halfway across a very treacherous river that's filled with some of the greediest alligators around. Completing the rest of this crucial crossing through the the sharks of the Senate will require great determination and persistence. Let's go for it!!!

Steven Clark how can I tell how my representatives voted on waxman-markey?
Susan at 5:29pm June 30

Rev. Every single call counts. Take 5 minutes and do it. I'm blessed to have a representative who's already said "yes," but many of the rest of you out there can speak with authority as constituents to members of Congress still on the fence. You really CAN make a difference.

We need to strengthen ACES as much as possible before the vote & then pass it so we can work to strengthen it by the time it gets to the President's desk. You can help by taking 3 quick actions:
1. Send a fax and make a call. It matters. http://www.1sky.org/aces-house-action
2. Tell a Friend: spread the word with our online tools, through your e-mail box, call/text your friends, whatever it takes.

The American Clean Energy and Security Act -- the Waxman-Markey bill, HR 2454 -- represents a critical opportunity to deliver on President Obama’s vision for a clean energy economy. With the bill coming up for a vote on the House floor by the end of this week, Congress needs to hear from you!
