The annual Old Leigh Regatta is a charity event organised by the three Scout & Explorer Groups based in the Old Town, who benefit from your generous support. Also the additional special charity chosen this year to benefit from the event is the Alzheimer's Society.
Again, this year's Regatta promises to be a varied and ...entertaining programme of events. It starts at 12pm with live music from Street Life and 208 and continues through the afternoon with the normal public participation in the various food eating competitions and lots of side stalls to enjoy.
On Sunday at 10.30am Leigh Salvation Army Band will be conducting a service on Victoria Wharf. The very popular Football on the Mud begins at 11am. This is for 5 a-side teams, so if you think your team would be interested, please contact Mike Rothwell - mrothwell@hotmail.co.uk. The live music on Sunday will be provided by Diaz and Heart Beat.
There are also lots of water events over both days contested in the Scout Pentathlon.
Programmes (£1) listing all the times etc. are available during the weekend of the Regatta and are also for sale in the old town for weekends prior.
This years chosen charity is The Alzheimer's Society. Please support them and us by looking out for the raffle tickets on sale as well.

Janice Hill This site brings back some memories. Went camping last week for the first time since I left 3CB and whilst it was great fun it didn't quite live up to summer camp every July all those years ago. Unfortunately haven't done much sailing either but live in hope that it isn't a permanent state of affairs.

Anne Hinton Van't Hof Lovely Cub hike on Foulness Island... thanks to all the organisers we had a lovely time and what an amazing place!

3rd Chalkwell Bay Sea Scouts To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the evacuation of Dunkirk, a delegation from 3rdCB was invited to the remembrance ceremony at St Clement's Church in Leigh to honour the memory of those involved in the evacuation, including a number of Old Leigh fishermen who died during the passage.

3rd Chalkwell Bay Sea Scouts To mark the end of Volunteers' Week, the Chief Scout Bear Grylls has special made a video message thanking all of Scouting's volunteers for the magnificent job they do.

Royal Navy Inspection 2010 by Staff Officer Sea Scouts, Lt Cdr David Griffiths. The Group was put through its paces on the water with almost the entire fleet afloat, before the inspecting officer reviewed all four sections of the Group.
We received another glowing report and well done to everyone that put in so much har...d work to make the evening a success.

There will be a jumble sale at Highlands Church on Saturday 17 April, starting at 11:00 until 13:30 to raise funds for the Group.
We are still collecting jumble to sell, so please get rummaging and bring it to The Den: spring has sprung so it's time to de-clutter! We will also need help on the day to transport jumble fr...om The Den (around 08:15 - do you have a van or trailer?), to sort the jumble (09:00-11:00) and to sell it. If you are free then come along, it's good fun and you get first pick of the goods.
If you can help, please let Angela know - there is a return slip on the Group website (below) that you can print off and send back to The Den so we know how many people can help, and a poster to help publicise the day.
