  • How many of you here are art teachers? Do you like your work? What do they pay you in your school? How are you treated amongst the staff? What are the rewards?

When I graduated in '05 I had an opportunity to become an Illustrator teacher. Back then I thought, I have so many other things I could be doing. The world is wide open, and I did become a Senior Graphic Designer, Sign Shop Manager, Website... Production Manager.. But looking back now, the relationships I have with my instructors and working with a team of Creatives everyday, not to mention having the chance to learn every year would've been a better fit for me.See More

      • Maria Calvillo I teach high school ceramics. I'm so grateful to have a job I absolutely love doing and the rewards are too numerous to name. The students are so funny and they've taught me to not take life so seriously.

I teach high school art 1 & art 2 painting. I absolutely love it. I originally taught elementary art for seven years, but high school is my favorite. The staff may not fully appreciate what we do, but I do feel like part of the "team". T...he rewards are great for me. Some young artists just need direction and encouragement. I also love sharing basic skills with those who think art is beyond them. Getting positive feedback from a student is priceless, especially when in the beginning, they wanted to bail on my class. I could go on... even with the difficult days...my heart is full.See More
