NEWSFLASH: TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT ON SALE NOW

This very special show at 53 Degrees features a great double header of acoustic performances from two huge names. Ex-Lightning Seeds main man Ian Broudie and Chorley success story James Walsh from Starsailor will each perform intimate acoustic sets for the 53 Degrees audien...ce this December.

Most famous for his work in The Lightning Seeds in the early 90s Broudie is actually better known in the industry as a producer, working with the likes of Echo & The Bunnymen, The Coral, The Subways, The Zutons and many more. And of course he will always be remembered for his collaboration with Frank Skinner & David Baddiel on World Cup anthem Three Lions. Broudie released his critically acclaimed first solo album ‘Tales Told' in 2004.

James Walsh is the man who provides Starsailor with the distinctive vocal sound that has helped propel them to 4 charting albums and 10 top forty singles over the last 8 years. Growing up just down the road in Chorley and attending Holy Cross High School this will be a virtually home town gig for James which is bound to bring something a little special to what is already a unique intimate show.

A real chance to get up close and personal with two men responsible for penning some of the best guitar pop anthems of the last decade.

After a great show at 53 Degrees thjs September, singer song-writer Mike Dignam will be returning to the venue with his full band for a special Christmas show on Sat 19th December.

Mike, who’s been gigging around the Preston scene either alone or as part of various bands since he was in high school, has spent the last ...2 years working hard to perfect his craft and build a name for himself and it’s all starting to pay off.

His 2008 self recorded and released album ‘A World of Our Own’ has prompted major label interest and Mike and his band have found themselves gigging all over the place this summer, from sold out shows at home to festival appearances in Kendal and exclusive shows in the capital. This summer saw the band take the stage at Preston’s huge Rock in the Park gig alongside the likes of JLS, Just Jack, Elliot Minor, Preston from the Ordinary Boys and Tinchy Stryder.

Mike will also be playing at the big Christmas light switch on at Preston Flag Market on November 21st.

53 Degrees
One of the finest live bands around (they were voted Best Live Act by the public at the 2004 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards), Show Of Hands continue to produce music that champions their West Country home while somehow avoiding the parochial trap that could easily have limited their audience. This, after all, is a band that's... sold out the Albert Hall while singing songs like Cousin Jack, a tribute to Cornish miners. Perhaps it's all down to the pure ebullience of their performance, with Phil Beer swapping instruments with an effortless virtuosity, and Steve Knightley's songs always billowing with pride, anger and a definite sense of celebration. There's an attitude here, certainly. Aided by Miranda Sykes on double bass and backing vocals, this is anthemic folk music that embraces the traditional music of England's past while acknowledging the contemporary landscape. Knightley's lyrics on Roots, for example, lament the fact that the only songs most English know are Rule Britannia and Swing Low. "It's my flag too and I want it back," he sings. Read More
