The point is well taken however, the headline says what? The kid still does not call him dad. Second the system to remove or take a chid out of the country requires a notarized statement from the absent parent in order to leave the US. When this child was taken to Brazil the father had full knowledge and had given permission to travel, is the system abused YES, as it is everywhere.
