Approximately 70% of children with developmental delays aren't diagnosed until they get into school. The ABCD program helps medical practices screen and refer young children for therapies so they can arrive to school ready to succeed. Smart Start is funding this program in many counties across NC. Wonderful news! Research shows that the later we address children's developmental/learning needs, the less effectivee we are. From a purely financial perspective (forget ethical), it makes sense. It's great to see NC taking the lead in what makes sense.
