What is AANAPISI designation?
Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs, commonly pronounced ANA-pee-zee) are federally-designated colleges and universities recognized for having at least a 10% Asian American and Pacific Islander student population as well as a significant percentage of low income students. AANAPISI institutions are eligible to apply for grant funds from the Department of Education to develop programs and services that improve the retention and success rates of Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander students. In turn, this strengthens the institution as a whole.

Mineta, whose portrait is now part of the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) in the Nation's capital. Secretary Mineta's portrait, painted by artist Everett Raymond Kinstler, was unveiled on July 26, 2010, with a reception following ...the ceremony honoring the former cabinet member at the NPG as part of the New Arrivals Collection.
The National Portrait Gallery is dedicated tothe exhibition and study of portraits of people who have made significant contribution to American history and culture and to the study of the artists who created such portraiture.
