ABN Radio Senate Republicans have blocked efforts to renew estate tax law. The law expires at the end of this year. Wednesday, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus asked to introduce a measure that would have extended the tax for two months, providing more time to work out a deal. But that move failed. Now it looks like... the 45 percent tax on estates, after a 3.5-million dollar exemption, disappears for a year and then jumps to 55 percent, with an exemption of one-million dollars in 2011.
