AMHSI students this Fall got to attend a Matisyahu concert in Jerusalem. The students wore t-shirts (pictured) specially made for the occasion with all their names and the phrase "Just like us, Matisyahu went on Muss!"

Alexander Muss High School in Israel Did you know that OAR band members Marc Roberge, Chris Culos, and Benjamin Gershman are all AMHSI alumni? They credit their AMHSI experience, particularly their tiyul to Massada, with inspiring most of the music for their debut CD 'The Wanderer'.

Alexander Muss High School in Israel AMHSI alumnus Matisyahu described his most spiritual moment as being on Mount Scopus overlooking Jerusalem.

Today, when AMHSI sessions travel to see Jerusalem for the first time from Mount Scopus, we play Matisyahu's song "Jerusalem" on the drive there.

This picture is of the Dec 08 session seeing Jerusalem for the first time.

He sure is! In an interview with Israeli Newspaper Ha'aretz, Matisyahu explained "I wasn't into Judaism, I was into music, Reggae, Bob Marley, girls. My parents wanted me to travel. They signed me up for this two-month program . . . and that's how I got to AMHSI….it wasn't something religious. It was more about connecting to your Jewish roots, getting to know Israel a little."
