Annette Lance I've been trying to get back on the treadmill on a daily basis. I've been doing 3 to 3.2 MPH at a 4 - 6 degree incline for at least 30 minutes - and it definitely gets my heart & sweat going! Is this a good start?

If you make small changes in your diet to go along with the walking each day, you'll lose that 10 pounds easily. I stopped drinking soda and switched to water and you'd be suprised how fast the weight comes off!! Good luck on your goals, keep us informed on your progress!!

I have been walking for 4 weeks now and I have lost 15 pounds. I started with 30 min on treadmill at 3mph and then increased a few weeks later to 40 minutes. Last week I moved up to 60 minutes, 3 miles! The weight is dropping off. I am also keeping my calories in check and trying to eat more fruits and veggies. You can look up a calorie calculator at nutrition.about.com

Robert Canfield How is everyone today! I know many people who seem to think walking is not a good form of exercise. But I walk anywhere from 3 to 5 miles a day after work, and after doing this for just a few short months, along with lifting weights and eating healthy, I need to buy new clothes because I've dropped so much weight! I al...so notice a difference in my attitude because walking gets rid of the days stress!

I read that walking 3 miles burns the same amount of calories as running 3 miles! I have also lost some weight and am going to continue walking my daily 3 miles. I do look forward to the future when I can walk 5. I can't run duet to having 3 back surgeries.

Linda I love walking, its definitely a great stress reliever, but participating in walks can benefit not only your health but others in the process. I am walking in the Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Orlando on Oct 31 and the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day to benefit Meals on Wheels for Seniors. I feel the need to ...take part in helping others while helping myself :)
