Major League baseball players today bestowed their highest honors on two players – St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols is Player of the Year and Detroit Tigers centerfielder Curtis Granderson is the Marvin Miller Man of the Year.

Action Team
Victorino's caring spirit was acknowledged publicly when he won the
2008 Lou Gehrig Memorial Award for his outstanding commitment to the
community and philanthropy. This year he also received the Volunteers of
America 2009 Outstanding Community Service Award for his work as a
mentor and inspiration to Philadelphia-area youth volunteers through
the national Action Team program.

Our new East Bay Action Team has already leapt into action. This past weekend they held a car wash to benefit the local Special Olympics Softball team. These teens demonstration of their commitment to their community should be an inspiration to us all.

Action Team High school student volunteers from the Minnesota Action Team volunteered at a baseball-themed health fair for older adults at Volunteers of America’s Park Elder Center on August 12. A special event that provided older adults with activities, awareness and information about improving and maintaining physical and mental health.

Action Team The Mobile Action Team applied for and became the Teen Leaders of a six week Summer Bible Camp that served over 100 local children a day. These teens are doing great work in their communities and it looks like their having a lot of fun at the same time.
