In December 2003, eleven leading organizations serving people with developmental disabilities officially joined together to form the Alliance for Full Participation, LLC. Their objective was and remains, the full realization of its vision—people with developmental disabilities living meaningful, productive and personal...ly satisfying lives in their community of choice. In December 2005, the AFP hosted a successful Summit in Washington, DC that brought together over 2,400 people to create an action agenda to achieve this vision. In the summer of 2008, the founding members reconvened and determined that AFP should continue as a group of organizations committed to the full participation of people with developmental disabilities in community life. Current members of the Alliance for Full Participation include: * American Association on Intellectual and Development Disabilities (AAIDD) * American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) * Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) * Autism Society of America (ASA) * Council of State Administrators or Vocational Rehabilitation * National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) * National Alliance for Director Support Professionals (NADSP) * The Arc of United States * The National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDDS) * United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) * TASH * The Council on Quality and Leadership * Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) AFP is united in its commitment to the successful inclusion of people with developmental disabilities into the mainstream of American life. By bringing together the many voices in our organizations dedicated to this cause, we will work together to make this vision a reality. Read More
