Al's Garden Center For the 5th year Al's Garden Center donated pumpkins to the Oregon Zoo for their Animal "HOWLOWEEN" Enrichment Activities. Check out this fun video with the big cats having fun with the pumpkins. The kickoff event this year is tomorrow, Friday October 30th, 2009 at 10:30am with the Elephants "Squishing of the the Squ...ash" at the Oregon Zoo.

Al's Garden Center At Al's Garden Centers Greenhouses in Hubbard, 45,000 poinsettias (enough to cover 2 1/2 football fields) are gaining their colors getting ready for the holidays. Jill West, Al's Head Annuals grower took me on a preview tour through the poinsettias and showed me the amazing varieties she's growing this year.

The poinsettias will be on display and for sale at all 3 Al's locations starting Thursday, November 5th, 2009. It may be a day earlier in a single location, but all three stores will have their poinsettias on Thursday, November 5th, 2009.

Al's Garden Center Customer "Joanne" grew Dorothy's Delight tomatoes for the first time this summer and had great success! She sent us this photo of her plants. Joanne planted her tomatoes in late April and had ripe fresh tomatoes by July 24th. Joanne loved the flavor of Dorothy's Delights and says she will grow more of them next year.
