From this article: "His annual Christmas cards to his 3,000 closest friends were legendary, with Bill wearing a Santa Claus suit while undertaking some grand and glorious stunt."

American Barnstormer Double Trouble Wing Walking Team Merry Christmas to everyone and your families!

About this photo: The original picture was taken downwind from the active runway at Dulles Airport ...at 7am in May of 1972. The wing rider was William (Bill) Ottley who was head of USPA and National Pilot's Association at different times. Bill was known for sending bizarre cards at Christmas and Walt agreed to help him produce another great one before they returned home from Transpo '72 (a 10-day international transportation expo and air show held at Dulles). The photo ship was a Champion flown by the famous Ron David, Washington TV and radio personality, and narrator of the Discovery Channel series "Wings". Santa's whiskers were abandoned early in flight.

American Barnstormer Double Trouble Wing Walking Team Be sure to check out all the great photography at Tyson's TVR Photography site (www.TVRPhotography.com) - and on his recently updated facebook page:

About TVRPhotography Since 1986, Tyson V. Rininger has been covering all aspects of photography including corporate portraiture, studio imagery, motorsports, aviation and more. Tyson first began working as a contract photographer for the Point Mugu Air Show while stil...l in high school. In the early '90's, he took up studio and location photography for corporate clientele while expanding his aviation coverage which has included becoming a contributing photographer and marketing designer for the California International Air Show, Salinas since 1996. In 2001, Tyson was commissioned by the Monterey Bay Blues Festival to create their 16th annual millennium celebration poster and program cover. This was the first year a photograph was used instead of a painting resulting in record sales of signed and unsigned prints. Currently, he is a contributing photographer for the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) as well as a contract photographer for the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Prior assignments include coverage of helicopter operations aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier, documenting the world's fastest piston driven aircraft RareBear and the first civilian spaceflight (SpaceShipOne) for Air & Space Smithsonian, the U.S. Navy Legacy Flight Program for the Department of Defense, the first ever Joint Red Flag exercise at Nellis AFB for Combat Aircraft magazine and the 100th Anniversary of Flight celebration in Dayton, Ohio for the International Council of Air Shows. His choice of vocation has been noted as being so unique that Fox News aired an extensive interview in October 2004 and was noted as being one of the most dangerous jobs in Tom Jones' book, "Risky Living". His photos and articles have been published in numerous magazines including multiple covers for AirShows Magazine, World Airshow News, PilotMag, Pacific Flyer and others. Additional publications he currently works with include Air & Space Smithsonian, Aviation Week & Space Technology, Aircraft Illustrated and Combat Aircraft Magazine, Makes & Models, Loop, EAA and AOPA's family of publications, Flight Journal, and others. Besides publications, many more of his images have been used for advertising purposes by aviators, aircraft manufacturers, aircraft supply centers, aviation brokers and the world's top FBO's.. Tyson is currently an image provider for Check-6 Aviation Photography and World Picture News. His self-authored publications include, “Red Flag, Air Combat for the 20th Century”, "F-15 Eagle at War" and “The Art of Flight”. Besides photography, Tyson is also an accomplished author having worked for globally distributed magazines and various West Coast newspapers. His experience in graphic design has led him to design T-shirts, pamphlets and posters and more for many of the aforementioned clients. Recently Tyson joined Jenny Forsythe and pilot Walt Pierce to become a professional wing walker for American Barnstormers. In 2009 the team performed alongside the Blue Angels in Punta Gorda, Florida as well as celebrated Canada's 100th Anniversary of Powered Flight in St. Thomas, Ontario. Tyson operates a studio in Monterey, CA and spends 1/3 of the year on the road working with clients on location.
