This has been a very trying year for farmers all around our state, but they keep doing what they can when the weather allows. Say an extra bit of thanks for farmers tomorrow. They need all the encouragement they can get this year!

American Farm Bureau Federation National Farm-City Week kicked off in Indianapolis with a symposium on animal welfare issues. Panelists including Roger Berry, field director for the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska, and Mike Baumgarner of the Ohio Farm Bureau’s Center for Food and Animal Issues, outlined strategies producers can tak...e to effectively tell their stories to the non-farming public. While opponents of animal agriculture, such as activist groups, are skilled at evoking emotion in consumers, producers can do the same thing, the panelists said.
