I agree with everything everyone one has posted...on the other hand I do like the fact that some of these shows depict LEO's as normal people outside of their jobs. That yes we do have to hold ourselves to a higher standard because of our profession, but hey we are human beings jus like anyone else. That behind our badges is man/woman and behind ... Read Morethem are our families. Families that we hope to come home to, kids that we have to take care of and take time out to help with their studies or other things, amongst all the bs and sometimes stressing situations that we deal with on a daily basis wether its the politics of the dept. or just the bs on the streets. Thats my take on some of these reality shows, what they show when we are on and off the clock as people.

My department supplies the vest for every officer and strongly recommends you wear it. I ALWAYS wear mine....but I heard it is about to become mandatory :)

Just the day to day goofy crap that happens. I find people soooo very interesting...from a distance. :)

Females in uniform - plus I get to put bad people in jail.

Politics and poor command staff not holding senior commanders responsible for officer's death.

I get tired of people who constantly complain about how much police suck until they need us...oh and of course dealing w drunks!!

I was under a major city police union for a few years, and while it's true that you have to be careful what you post online, it's important to make it known that generally something is wrong or it will not be fixed.

Read Moreapproach in the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department for an example of a humanistic approach that is changing the "burn 'em till you learn 'em" approach traditionally employed by police departments. Unfair discipline helps neither the officer nor the department.

Going home to my family at the end of my shift, and not hearing any more news about my fellow bother and sisters killed in the line of duty.
