American Police Beat Magazine wants to know: what do you think of foot patrols vs. cruiser patrols?

November 18 at 7:22am
Rebecca Masters
Rebecca Masters
I think both are necessary. It's important to get out on foot and interact with the public. They then see you as a person and not just some anonymous cop. It helps build community relations, produces more community involvement and cooperation.

Foot patrols are nice in a large city but small agency's don't have the resources.

both has its ups and downs: response time, visability, pr, ect ect. it just would suck if you were on foot patrol the majority of your career. on the other hand you get excercise which is an important part of your carrer most cops are overweight because they sit in there cars, which can lead to back problems and illnesses.there is always the other option of bike patrol also but there nothing like having your cruiser.

underage drinking and drug use is a BIG problem- especiallyu in small towns where there is nothing for the teens to do or in cases where parents let their kids run wild. Dont really believe it is limited to certain income ranges -they all do it.

Dismissed, or they are let out in a pathetically short time. But that leads to other issues such as prison over-crowding and the cost of incarceration. But I think we could deal with a lot of that if we had more Sheriff Joe Arpaio's.
