As we have done the past eight years, American Rivers is once again working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to offer grants for stream barrier removal projects. We are specifically looking for projects that will help local communities thrive and benefit diadromous fish species—fish that live in both marine and freshwater habitats.
It was recently announced by the EPA that dredging of toxic sediments is complete and the Kinnickinnic River is now on the path to restoration. This is great news and a great success!
Guest post by Peter Raabe, American Rivers' Policy Director for Budget and Appropriations
Congress passed and the President signed the fiscal year 2010 Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations bill. This was a feat in and of itself since this is the first time since 2004 that the bill has not been rolled up as part of a larger omnibus appropriations bill.
