One of the most valuable things that I learned in AMIGOS was to "expect the unexpected!" Remembering that has served me well in a number of ways and places.

Of course I loved the human relations/cross-cultural/diversity training. And finally, I think AMIGOS is where I really learned the importance of the 6 P's!

1)a mirror!! there was only like 3 houses that had mirrors in my community!
2)LOTS of pictures of yourself. When I left I only had 5 pictures of me to give out. it was so hard to have to choose which families I had to give the pictures to. Plus, its so fun to explain your family and friends to the people in your community!

I turned 18 in Costa Rica. My family made me this really alcoholic cake tres leches! My entire town assumed me and my partner knew how to make pizza (which we had no idea how.) They made us make pizza and told us it was not for us, but it was for this important meeting the community was having. Anyways it ended up being for us. They all loved it (i think) but it tasted like cardboard with cheese. But besides that it was awesome! Danced, play guitar, great party!
