The Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path) is an award-winning religious program that aims to promote and encourage the careful study and reading of the Truth in the Bible.
Bro. Eli Soriano of the Members Church of God International (MCGI) in the Philippines is host for more than 20 years now. He is well-known as the preacher with the gift of wisdom in answering using the Bible every question inquired of him by his live audience in his Bible Expositions.
The host-preacher engages his audience through live discussions of current and stirring issues, then accepts questions that will be answered upfront using the Bible as the primary reference.
Bro. Soriano repeatedly announces in his program and Bible Expositions that he will answer questions using the Bible as basis. Guests are asked to inquire their present pastors or preachers of the same questions they asked of Bro. Soriano and he himself answered. That way, they will have a balanced assessment and judgment as to who is telling the correct teachings in the Bible.
With live broadcasts on radio and TV in the Philippines, Ang Dating Daan also uses the web medium to house its video library and to broadcast its symposium-like gathering called Bible Exposition through live video streaming.
Since its first airing on radio in the early 80's, many of its avid listeners, guests and audience, including formerly staunch critics and enemies, believe their eyes were opened to the deceits and iniquities in most religious orders after listening or watching the program.
Critics accuse the program as being too self-righteous, scripted and judgmental. Some of its enemies even file invented charges and use their influence in government to deliberately stop, restrain and ban the program and Bro. Eli from airing on radio and TV. Yet, the more that criticisms pile that people's interests for the program and Bro. Eli grows.
Ang Dating Daan also commits itself in doing good deeds to fellowmen by the public service drive it initiated recently. Bro. Eli Soriano launched the following - massive blood letting drive nationwide and globally, giving of free bus rides for commuters in EDSA Highway, giving of free metro rail transit rides for the elderly and more. Bro. Eli Soriano also maintains feeding programs for the poor school children at the Philippines' poorest areas, Payatas and Baseco.
Ang Dating Daan recently launched its so-called Transient Home Project through Kamanggagawa Foundation, the charitable arm of MCGI. This aims to provide temporary shelter for the homeless in the metropolis. A bigger transient home is also being built in Pampanga, it was announced recently.
At present, the program is aired live via satellite through the facilities of UHF Channel UNTV 37. Ang Dating Daan is the flagship broadcast program of the MCGI and Bro. Soriano is Presiding Minister.
