The Anglican Ecumenical Society
The Anglican Ecumenical Society started as an initiative of the Anglican Ecumenical Bible Study in Second Life. We grew, and started holding activities which were also aimed at a wider audience than just the members of the Bible study itself. We are now also active on the web outside of Second Life, so you can join us without needing to be a Second Life resident.
You are especially encouraged to join this group if you believe in ecumenical outreach, you are interested in online ministry, or you believe in the first two principles of the Anglican Chicago-Lambeth Quardrilateral, which outlines basically what it "means" to be Anglican - belief in the Holy Scriptures as the ultimate standard and rule of faith, and the creeds (the Nicene and Apostles' creeds).
We are involved in:
- Online Ministry: active in Bible study, prayer, outreach, ecumenical discussions and presentations online
- Upholding Anglican ecumenical principles: a high regard for the authority of scripture, and the importance of the creeds.
Activities we hold:
- Lectures and discussions of interest to Christians in general from various denominations, especially about Online Ministry
- Lectures and discussions particularly of interest to Anglicans, especially about renewal of churches in the Anglican Communion through faithful witness of God's Word
- Prayer meetings - especially for the various ministries in Second Life, and inviting the Holy Spirit to call the needy in Second Life to Christ
Visit our site at http://anglicanecumenicalsociety.wordpress.com. If you are a Second Life visitor or resident, you can look up Wilfried Ansome or Able Shepherd for more information. Or contact James Coder here on Facebook for information about possibilities in participating in / discussing Online Ministry, or if you are interested in entering Second Life.
If you are interested in staying in touch with us, please consider joining our Updates Group - this functions like our newsletter, you'll get regular (probably weekly) facebook messages describing our upcoming activities.
