Nick Culver

Nick Culver After viewing the exquisite art collection at Fred Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park this afternoon, I am now reflecting on how lame almost all of the Top Ten pieces actually were. Needless to say, this is one of the downsides of Americal Idol-style voting and will prove a major hurdle for ArtPrize to overcome in order to establish the event as reputable and noteworthy. They have my total confidence.

Chris, your post about the experiences of the kids is so incredibly important!! Really great to read about the values of this experience continuing to expand in the best of ways for the benefit of everyone! ArtPrize has managed to breathe life and real inspiration into culture that sets a tone and standard for the whole country!! I just wish the national (even the cultural) media were so hip!
Grand Rapids, keep telling us all over the country what this phenomenal project has meant for you all!!

Chris, you are so right about the experience for children. I took my fifth grade class down and was amazed to see them examining each piece carefully. One boy turned to another and said, "What do you think of this medium?" Awesome.

I think that artists who live far away from Grand Rapids and have to travel far should be notified ahead of time about the other artists who live near them that got in-so we can go together to install and pick up. IOW (in other words) on the east coast, FE(for example).

Sounds logical and courteous. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you, but your copper pillows were one of the most unusual in ArtPrize, and I want you to know I voted for you! Your sister's red fibers added an extra "kick" to it, too.

I'd like to see how much revenue the City earned from all the extra parking tickets issued, and State sells tax earned from all the purchases, as well as local business earnings!
