Atayne, based in Portland, ME, gets its raw material through a cheap and dirty strategy -- from the streets, literally.

Atayne Come join the Atayne Trash Runners at the Maine Marathon in Portland, ME on Sunday, Oct 4 as we run behind the 3,000+ participants picking up trash along the way. In addition to the runners, we will have team members at the aid stations and the start/finish line area to sort landfill waste from recyclables. Our goal ...is to recycle as much waste as possible and leave the racecourse cleaner than the event found it. As unglamorous as it may sound, the day promises to be a trashy good time.

Last year, our team of runners and sorters made a huge impact on the event. The results speak for themselves. Over 75% of the waste from the event was recycled, including:
• A trailer full of cardboard and over 80 bags (30 gal. each) of paper and plastic
• Nearly 4,000 plastic bottles and jugs (raising another $100 for the race charity, the Center for Grieving Children)

To build on last year's success, we need your help. If you are interested in joining the team, send an email to events@atayne.com. Please include the volunteer position you are interested in: runner, sorter, or both.

As an added bonus, all trash running team members will receive a complimentary Atayne top to wear while volunteering and to sport proudly afterward. It’s the proverbial win-win situation!

It's a trashy job, but somebody's got to do it...

I'm excited to see that the fall line will be at PRR soon! I checked out the POV Graphics preview. Any chance that the runner on the Bio-fueled women's shirts will be a female runner?

Our goal is to make the graphics as gender neutral as possible, but with the ones like bio-fueled are plan is to definitely have male and female versions.

There is a particular question that I get a lot. I think people feel it is easy to answer, but it is not. It may be phrased differently each time, but the essence of the question is, “What do you do on a daily/weeky basis?”
