You're doing fine with your proteins but you need more veggies. Romaine lettuce is fine but 12 to 15 of your 20 daily net carbs should be veggies from the Acceptable Foods list. http://bit.ly/3h7z2 The fiber in the veggies helps even out your blood sugar and makes you feel fuller.

Also, try eating more fats! More oils, a bit of sour cream, half an avocado, some cheese (up to 4 oz a day) -- these are all permitted and will also make you feel more full. When you['re in ketosis, your body burns fats for fuel.

Here's a list of Induction-approved snacks from the free Atkins Community, which is a great place to find recipes, support and info: http://bit.ly/2iWd4N... Read More

This thread tells you how to get more veggie carbs in each day: http://bit.ly/1418qA

No one should feel hungry on Atkins --trust me , you're not eating enough! Eating some higher-fat snacks should help. Also, you should be drinking 64 oz of water a day. good luck and let me know what other questions you have!

I knew you would get past that stall! You get an A+ (a big red A, of course). It can be frustrating, but weight loss tends to have peaks and valleys and you just have to trust that the scale will eventually reflect the changes you're making. 20 pounds since you started -- that's great! We are all so proud of you. Have people been noticing?

Atkins From our new Induction course: "As long as you're eating the conventional high-carb American diet, your body must burn glucose for energy before it burns fat. But lower your carb intake enough, and your body shifts to primarily burning fat—both the kind you eat and the jiggle on your tummy, hips and thighs." http://bit.ly/2pKzRp

(continued) The fastest path to getting into this perfectly natural fat-burning mode is the Induction phase of Atkins. What works for just about everyone is to reduce the initial amount of carb intake to 20 grams of Net Carbs a day. So for at least the first two weeks, your objective is to stay at or very close to that number. The metabolic shift ... Read Moreusually occurs after the first week of restricting carbs—but it may take several weeks. As long as you continue to control carbs—gradually increasing your carb intake in later phases of Atkins—you'll lose weight and then keep it off. Burning fat for energy also allows you to remain in control of your appetite and eliminate or minimize food cravings.

Fat is actually your body's preferred fuel because it provides a steady supply of energy, unlike the ups and downs of glucose. Because you're burning body fat, you can consume plenty of fats such as olive oil, canola oil and delicious snacks such as half an avocado, olives, a couple of slices of cheese or a deviled egg without any adverse effect on your weight or health. You'll still be burning some glucose—it's always metabolized first—but your body can be the energy-efficient dual-fuel machine it's meant to be.

A little over a month now that I have been on the induction phase, finally starting to see the pounds come off. Also working out at the gym helps. I ahve been keeping the carbs to 20 grams.

Atkins Great advice from Jen Nelson about how to deal with birthday parties: "Take it from me, birthdays will come and go and it's not worth a piece of cake or a drink unless you know you can handle it and get right back on track. No excuses -- it's your life and you won't die if you don't eat the cake."

I just finished taking the lessons and recommed it to everyone who is starting. I learned a lot and have a better understanding now. My question is this. Almost all my carbs are vege carbs except my 3 packets of sweet and low in my morning coffee. I do not want to waste carbs on breads yet. Is thi sok or should I get c...arbs elsewhere? Glad you took the course and found it helpful! If you are eating 20 net carbs a day and getting 12-15 of them from veggies on the Acceptable Foods List (http://bit.ly/3h7z2) that's ideal. The remaining carbs should come from other foods on that list -- be sure to count the carbs from sour cream, cream, cheese, etc. Eggs, for example, have .6 net ... Read Morecarbs each.

Any breads or grains should wait till OWL (Phase 2) --they're not allowed in Induction! Stick as close as you can to the foods list and guidelines for the first two weeks.

Recently someone mentioned "Just Cheese" snacks so I thought I would make my own. I put chunks of cheese on a piece of parchment paper, microwaved for 2 mintues and VOILA! when they cool they are crisp and yummy. I used sharp cheddar but you can use any hard cheese. They were great with dip and I think they would ...make a great base for any good hors d’voure in place of the usual cracker. I give thema 2 thumbs up! PS...I've lost 13 lbs so far woo hooRead More

We missed you, Natasha! So sorry to hear of your loss and your illness. You've been through a lot -- when it comes to choosing OWL or Induction, I'd say choose the phase that feels the least like deprivation to you -- don't do anything that feels like punishing yourself! But if you want to enjoy some of the higher-carb foods that OWL offers and aren't in a hurry, that may work best. So drinks are involved. Yes you can get Vodka but its hard to get anything other than a diet coke and that is not a very good combination at all. Any sugggestions?

It's a question of priorities, for sure. Alcohol tends to stall weight loss (your body burns alcohol for fuel before it burns fat) but if can accept a slower rate of weight loss and are willing to make lower-carb choices, you may be able to find a balance. Right now you're probably stalling out your ketosis on the weekend just as it's starting up... Read More (it takes most people 3 to 5 days to get into ketosis). If there's any way you could not drink for two weeks of Induction, that would give you a chance to lose some weight, rev up your metabolism and get into ketosis with no stalls.

Also, if you don't exercise be sure to get more active. For most people, the more your exercise the more net carbs you can eat and stlll stay in ketosis.

Dan Crooks Okay I have a question... During Dr. Atkins last 10 years he was really into nutritional supplements to be takin along with his diet plan. In the last five years these Atkins brand supplements are no where to be found. Does anyone have any idea what they where or in fact what you are taking now? Thanks so much!

Dr Atkins wrote a book called Dr Atkins' Vitanutrient Solution -- according to our Atkins nutritionist, it's still the best guide to supplementation. it's still in print or you can find used copies on Amazon: http://bit.ly/1m2gcz

Current Atkins guidelines call for a multivitamin and EFAs (essential fatty acids). More info here: http://bit.ly/2hhEk8

This article discusses supplements that can help stabilize blood sugar and assist the weight loss process -- look for a multivitamin that contains them.http://bit.ly/1nlrZh... Read More

Atkins used to offer these supplements: Atkins Core 4 Supplement, Basic 3, Essential Oils, Dieters Advantage, and Accel. You can Google those product names to find what they contained -- for example, http://bit.ly/1JXyRZ
