The author of the beloved "The Year of the Dog" returns with a wondrous story of adventure, faith, and friendship--an enchanting fantasy adventure reminiscent of "The Wizard of Oz."

Reine Hi Grace! I wish I hadn't gotten the chance to introduce myself last night at the MSweet event. I am a fan of your work and have heard about you for many years in the area. I also live near Boston and am an Illustrator/Writer. Last night, I was one of the other youngish people there :) ... One day, I'm sure our paths will cross again. Until then, we can meet in the virtual world ... Reine

Hi Grace,
Do you know yet if you will be selling any prints from WTMMTM at the RISD art sale? Since it's our favorite book of all time, I thought I would buy Molly something related for Christmas.
Looking forward to meeting you then,
Amy

I was going to do a post about the Smith College event that Anna & I attended, but fellow author Jeannine Atkins did such a nice write-up on her blog I thought I'd just link there! So since I'm not writing about that, I can spend more time doing my most present distraction: SHOPPING...

As well as my article, there's a lovely interview of my friend & excellent author Barbara O'Connor and her charming book The Small Adventure of Popeye and Elvis in School Library Journal(this issue is a good one!).

Christina Liu Happy Halloween! In honor of Halloween, I thought you'd find it interesting (and somehow appropriate) that I was able to find a translation for the word "Vampire" in Chinese. 吸血鬼 (xīxuěguǐ) literally translates into bloodsucker(xīxuě) ghost (guǐ).

Hello Grace. My daughter and I enjoyed so much reading "The Year of the Dog" and "The Year of the Rat". I felt so happy to know my daughter, has a fabulous book in her shelf while she is growing in the US as an asian American. Since she is 8, some of the themes you took in the Year of the Rat seemed a bit difficult for... her, but I am sure she will come back to that book often and understand completely. Also, your mom's stories had always warmed me up. I also came from Japan, so I know what she has been saying. Thank you indeed for making these great books. -- Satoko and SarahRead More

There's a profile on me in this month's issue of the School Library Journal. While I'm a tad embarrassed by the complimentary things written, I think Robert would've liked it.

It's almost Halloween, and that meant last Sat (right after the Boston Book Festival) was the time for my annual pumpkin carving...
