BLUES FANS AND MUSICIANS...

The 8th Annual Blues Challenge will be hosted by the Blues Society of Western PA on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm at the Clarion Hotel, 401 Holiday Drive, (Green Tree area) Pittsburgh, PA.

Did you know....

SEYDELL will sponsor the "Best Harmonica Player Award" at the competition (provided by Rupert Osler and Chris Nacy, Seydell representatives).

The "Jim Weber Memorial Guitar Award" will be given by the BSWPA for the best overall guitarist in memory of their late president, Jim Weber. ( Jim was an avid guitar fan and supporter of the blues in Western PA).

Both winners will be determined by a panel of judges that will follow the judging criteria mandated by the Blues Foundation.

The following acts will compete. The order of the lineup will be determined in the coming weeks.

Blues Society of Western Pennsylvania

Blues Fans...mark your calendar...April 14... an entire day of blues at the Clarion Hotel, 401 Holiday Drive, (Greentree area) Pittsburgh, PA from 2 pm - 10:30 pm. The day will begin with the winning entry from the Youth Blues Challenge. $10 to the public, $8 Blues members with active membership cards. Affordable food and beverages will be available all day. An evening buffet will be made availabl...e during the hour break in early evening.

For those wanting to stay over, the Clarion has a Blues Room rate of $89 including a blues breakfast. The rate is good until March 30.

The Blues Breakfast will be held on April 15 from 9:30 am - 11:30 am. Chris Yakopcic and Bubs McKeg, both past solo blues challenge winners, will provide a morning of blues. This event is open to the public for $10...the music is free.

Listed below are the entries in the 8th Annual Blues Challenge. The order in which they will compete will be determined in about two weeks. At that time, each entry will be notified of their time slot.
