Well for one, I don't "smack" my kids. I "spank" my kids(actually only my son since my daughter is only 1). And kids are smarter than you give them credit for.

My son knows he can't do lots of thing that adults can do, like use the stove or drive the car. My son knows that he can't smack other kids because I've told him not to, and he actually listens to what I say. If he would disobey then he would have to apologize and get time out, if the behavior continues then yes he would get a spanking. I don't spank my kids because I'm angry at them, I spank them because they have disobeyed.

You are saying that you don't believe in spanking because you don't have the self control not to spank of of anger, so other parents should not use a disciplinary tool because it is one that you cannot use. By your logic we should outlaw alcohol because some people do not have the self control not to become drunks off of it. I don't mean to attack you personally. I just don't think it is right for people to deny MY choice to use spanking as a disciplinary tool if I chose to, or judge me as a bad or abusive parent.

SO lets put laws into affect that will make GOOD parents law breakers as opposed to properly enforcing laws that are already there. Lets paint good people as bad instead of actually going after the people that ACTUALLY abuse children.

My 8-month-old daughter has Violet. She loves it! And so do I! It's so fun how it sings songs with her name in them! It is very interactive. I can see that she will like this until she's at least 3 or 4. You can usually pick them up on sale for $15... it's amazing what they can do for so little money! Get this!

My 14 month old loves Backyardigans, all the music and dancing does it for her!

Oh, Dinosaur Train on PBS and Jungle Junction on Disney are 2 cute new shows!! My 3 1/2 year old loves them!!

My son recently fell and had to have 14 stitches in his chin. Even though I hate that my child's face is scarred, I would never remove the scar in his pictures. That is part of who he is right now. He is a very active kid and sometimes kids get hurt. He will be telling the story of how it happened for years to come when people ask how he got it. How would it make him feel if I removed it? Wouldn't he feel there was something ugly about his face?

I am a dog handler and have been for 13 years. the key to teaching a dog it to make sure you hold them accountable if you tell them to do something then you make sure they do it. From what I can see it would be the same for kids.

My friend who has no children and 3 dogs and I talk about this topic all the time...there are tons of parallells! Obviously there are differences as well. Children also need the three basic things that Millan talks about, excersise, discipline and then affection and love!!
