Backcountry.com

Backcountry.com Stoic is on Facebook too.

Our cult of dyed-in-the-wool dirtbags hammered out the Stoic series, creating gear that feels, functions, and looks like it’s been carved out of the backcountry. Thrive In Your Element—Stoic. Like its wearers, Stoic abides. Thriving in the harshest climates and most extreme environments, Stoic pushes beyond mediocrity... in search of true function. Whether you’re cutting a skin track in the pre-dawn mist or turning an ice screw into the 10th pitch of a high-alpine route, the weight-conscious, almost-ascetic Stoic outerwear weathers the storm. Featuring cutting edge construction and fabrics, minimalist ergonomic fits, and raised-in-the-backcountry grit, Stoic embodies the spirit of the alpine extremist. What is Stoic? Stoic is the experienced guide, the steadfast belayer, the daily avalanche reporter, the sheltering overhang in a storm—captured, cultured, and distilled into apparel. Stoic is not a brand or a logo. It is not a “look” or a style, except when style follows in the wake of an obsession with efficient, functional design. Every Stoic piece works as part of a whole, with one simultaneous aim: to aid and enhance your performance in the outdoors. Whether you seek an ascetically spare shell system or a fully-featured alpine expedition suit, an ethereal second-skin baselayer or a bulletproof backcountry bib, Stoic will never disappoint you. Every feature, fabric, and construction method is tried and thoroughly tested not only by human hands, but by the terrain and conditions that surround us and the community of alpinists who share and stoke our drive.Read More

Just a quick word of appreciation for Backcountry.com. I've found their staff to be knowledgeable and honest when I've bought from/talked with them. (If they don't know something they'll say so and try to find someone or steer you in the right direction.) The customer reviews are some of the best on the subject matter ...and that speaks volumes to the community they've built. Highly recommended and praiseworthy.Read More

Backcountry Skiing

Backcountry Skiing
Some new features on http://www.skiingthebackcountry.com that you all might like to know about.

Check out the new VERT TRACKER. We
know that backcountry skiing is about much more than keeping track of
numbers, but on the other hand, we think it could be fun to have a
record of where you skied, when, how much uphill & ho...w much downhill.

Other community features include:

*the ability to upload mountains & routes to the USER GENERATED BACKCOUNTRY SKI GUIDE (http://www.skiingthebackcountry.com/ski_guide/backcountry_ski_guide),

*the ability to upload events to the calendar &

*the
ability to upload links to THINGS YOU GOTTA SEE. Feel free to use this
app as a place to promote your backcountry skiing relevant website,
service, video, etc.

Rodney Thomas Collins

Rodney Thomas Collins Your prices are inflated - just search on the net: After buying a pair of Anon Solace goggles (with 20% off, you claimed) I later found the same set for $33 cheaper on Sierra Trading. I can understand a small variance, but this was a rip off. BUYER BEWARE of this company.

I refuse to buy anything from STP for their evangelical bend. I get my unsolicited sermons on a daily subway ride in NYC - thank you. I have nothing against other people's personal beliefs, but I myself personally would prefer not to give my business to them.

It's true that it's possible to find free shipping coupons on STP. But here's what they said about return policy:

"Purchases returned within 6 months of the order date will be issued a refund by original order method. For purchases older than 6 months, an eGift Card will be issued."

Not that I would, but if something really doesn't work out, I kinda would like my $ back from STP, instead of be tied to another purchase w/ them. This is where BC really shines.
