I have made it to all the local peaks around the ogden, ut. area which are small to comparison to most mountaineers. this summer kings peak the highest peak in utah sits at 13528' others i have climbed were all but 10000'. My goal for now is the grand tetons in wyoming but i most likely wont be able to atain that for a few years.

As far as packing goes with weight distribution, I follow the guidlines that you carry medium weight at the bottom, heavy weight in the middle, and light weight at the top. You want to have the heavy weight as close to your body as possible so that you don't lose your center of balance. Men have a higher center of balance so they tend to prefer the... Read More weight to be high-- women tend to have a lower center of balance so they tend to like the weight to be lower.
It also depends on the surface you're walking on and if you're using an internal or external frame pack. Much of this information can be found in the backpacker's field manual-- somewhat of an essential read for anyone who is going to be backpacking.

here are some sayings.
"Colder than a Witches titty in a brass bras." MEAns its cold as hell.

"Its colder than darnit." MEans its realy cold.

"slower Than Molasis in january." MEans its reallly slow.

"finer than frog hair" MEans its really fin, rare, or valuable

"More stubborn than a mule" MEans really stubborn.

and here's one of my favorite.
