There's always something new in Balboa Park! The range of exhibitions, performances, events, films, dance, dining and horticulture is extraordinary. Your most difficult decision during your visit to the Park could be deciding what to do.

Balboa Park The Christmas Story Tree, performed nightly at Balboa Park December Nights started out as a program in the
sanctuary of Del Cerro Baptist Church in 1976.
In 1986 the Tree moved to Balboa Park’s Spreckels Organ Pavilion and has been performed there ever since.
The 80 voice choir, the 20-piece orchestra, and drama team presents the story of Christmas in music and living scenes - along with spectacular lighting displays.

Two years ago, on a Residents Free Tuesday I discovered the Veterans Museum & Memorial Ctr. It used to be the chapel of the old Balboa Navy Hospital. I learned about Rosie, the Museums mascot. She was a gray tabby that adopted the Museum as her home. Unfortunately, she had just died. Did anyone know more about Rosie?

Balboa Park The Bea Evenson Fountain, between the Natural History Museum & RH Fleet, was built in 1972 & named in honor of the woman who founded the Committee of 100, a group dedicated to preserving the Park's architecture. The fountain can shoot water nearly 60 feet in the air, & the height is controlled by a wind gauge mounted nearby - increasing wind lowers water pressure & fountain height.
