My new favorite site: 70sbig.com
fav quote from the FAQ:
"I can’t eat all the food. Can’t I just train harder?"
Eating is training. Beowulf had Grendel. We have
Mongolian and Chinese buffets. If you don’t have at least one dining
experience every couple of weeks that resembles an epic struggle worthy
of telling over beers, you’ll be putting from the rough for the
foreseeable future.

I wanted to write an article that would inspire quality strength training and eating. The article will have to wait, because you all need to see these pictures that were sent to me today. And you need to see them immediately.I have a friend named Springer. ...

First, thanks to everyone for all the continued support of the site. When I started all this back in 2004 with a lowly blogspot site, it quickly outgrew itself and hence this website was created. Well the years have passed and it's time again to grow.

My rafter chin-up is back! Haven't trained this in years, but the heavy deads and rack pulls seemed to have strengthened up my fingers something fierce.

Managed a 40 lb hub lift too. Sooo close to the classic 45 lb lift.

While we're on the topic of Oly bars, something I posted up at my gym the other day. Good general gym rules to follow and words to think about, from someone who's probably a lot stronger than you.

Email I got from Rick Hoole of Loadthebar.com - talking about a possible cause of Stafon Johnson's recent bench press accident.
" I want to make sure everyone knows about the risk of using an Olympic Lifting Bar when Bench Pressing.
This
may or may not be the case with Stafon Johnson's accident, but it
certainly sounds fam...iliar to me. In 1984 I was competing in a
Powerlifting competition in Indiana and we made an important
discovery!!
On my opening Bench with 380lbs on the bar, my wrists
collapsed forward and before I realized it the bar had slipped out of
my hands and landed on my chest. First time ever! I was so stunned I
couldn't even understand what happened.
Shockingly, the next two
lifters had exactly the same thing happen to them. The meet was
stopped and it was discovered that the problem was not the Lifters, but
the bar that was being used was an Olympic Lifting Bar. The Olympic
Lifting Bar was removed and a Standard Weightlifing Bar was then used
and there were no further incidents.
I
learned about this danger first-hand that day! I've never seen this
happen with a Standard Weightlifting Bar ever. A Standard Bar has a
stiffer drag and no free rotation like an Olympic Lifting Bar. The
more freely they spin, the more risk they pose for Bench Pressing due
to de-stabalizing the wrist area when pressing upward. We made an important discovery way back then, that may be overlooked today."
