EX
EX is a free plan that will help you stop smoking. It’s not about why to quit. EX is all about HOW. The plan was created by medical experts and tested by real smokers. Or should we say, EX-smokers.

If it makes you uncomfortable, I would stop the coffee until you feel like you can drink it without the danger of relapse. When I first quit, I wanted a cigarette no matter what. But I was headstrong to not smoke.

smoking is smoking. Whether it's cigarettes, cocaine, heroin, or pot. Pot doesn't help you quit. It's like changing seats on the Titantic.

haha! I couldn't chew gum because I would accidently bite my cheek. Keeping your hands busy is a real good idea. It helped me too. I drank lots and lots of ice water.

This one was very interesting. The problem is that psychological or not, the perception is what counts. I notice that when I am feeling sick, have a persistent headache, or otherwise feel "under the weather", my desire to smoke increases. Telling myself "this is psychological" is one thing, but working my way through the urge is another. Beyond that, when I do give in and smoke, most frequently afterwards I feel just as bad, with the additional guilt of giving in to my urge.

Thanks Dr Hurt. My husband has been undergoing pain management treatment for his chronic pain since 1991. And after smoking close to 40 years, he successfully quit in 2005. Perception does mean a lot but reality trumps perception every time. As smokers we need to take the blinders off and choose to see and acknowledge the reality. Because no matter how much we tell ourselves that it's different for us - it's not. Reality is reality for me, and for you, and for you over there too. And when we make that acknowledgement, our perception will then follow suit and falls into line with it.

Donovan, I think the key to remember is that we each have absolute control of what our individual perception is. Perception is what resides in our mind and we have the ability to control our own minds and what thoughts we allow to park there. Do we sometimes choose not to maintain that control? You bet... But we absolutely do have the ability to cortrol it, even if we choose not to utilize that control at times.

It's all about our mindset... or perception, as you so elliquently stated. We can choose to miss our cigarettes... or we can choose to be happy that they are finally gone from our lives. Guess what perseption the long-term quitters choose to go with?... See More

My name is Peggy and I have been quit for 4 Years, 10 Months, 1 Week, 1 Day, 9 hours, 11 minutes and 19 seconds (1,772 days). I have saved $9,327.08 by not smoking 53,171 cigarettes. I have saved 6 Months, 3 Days, 14 hours and 55 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 2/3/2005 10:00 PM. Not so much as one puff since !!

I just had major surgery and had a hard time breathing the first 4 days of my recovery. I was told it was normal and part of the process. At least it wasn't from smoking and I'm breathing fine now. I took the pain pills my doctor prescribed and it's been enough time now that I don't need them. I think not smoking has helped speed up my recovery.

Hi Dana! I smoked for 35 years and didn't think I'd ever quit. I bought some lozenges and decided that once I stopped there was no reason good enough to start up again. If I can do it, you can too. Smoke-free since 07-17-04
