Informational video for Big Creek Expeditions on the Pigeon River. Whitewater rafting family adventure in the Smoky Mountains. Less than an hour drive from Gatlinburg and Asheville.

Big Creek Expeditions, Inc. All the rain has brought the Pigeon up to 10,000 cubic feet per second!! For those not familiar, the historical average for the river in the summer is around 1,200 cfs. This fall continues to be a great year for whitewater.

Big Creek Expeditions, Inc. Some of our guides (JoJo, Nick, Jordan, etc.) went to paddle the Cheoah and the Tellulah Gorge this past weekend. Photos/video has been requested and hopefully we all get to see how things turned out very soon. Maybe Nick and JoJo had less face-to-rock contact at Oceana than last year.

Big Creek Expeditions, Inc. Photos from the high water we had on the Pigeon in September. Busdriver Ronnie, owner Jon, and guide Rick. Fun had by all.

Big Creek Expeditions, Inc. Interstate 40 is closed due to a rockslide. No problems getting to the river from Tennessee, but hopefully things will be cleared by spring for the folks coming from North Carolina. Feel free to give us a call for updates or alternate routes. Plenty of scenic drives that can take you to Big Creek.

Big Creek Expeditions, Inc. We are glad to welcome the newest member of our Big Creek family. Scary, but Rick (aka "Little Rick") now has a son. Rumor has it that he came out of the womb with a paddle in his hand (ouch). Feel free to request little Rex for your rafting trips this summer.

Big Creek Expeditions, Inc. Everyone make sure Tim (aka "stinky Tim", "Texas Tim", "takeout Tim") feels welcome during his first year-round stay here in the east. Now that he has a girlfriend he is no longer homeless. If you haven't already heard it, be sure to ask him to tell you the story about getting lost at Clay's campsite (this story is n...ot for your kids to hear).

Big Creek Expeditions, Inc. That big storm came through, but not enough rain to make any good rivers run. Made me want to cry. Luckily, here comes another sexy looking storm. Any bets on what might be running on Wednesday or Thursday? ... Greenbrier, Big Creek, Laurel anyone?

I videoed this from a camera mounted on the top of my helmet, as I bow guided the raft. We flip the raft unintentionally, and all three swim a LONG way downstream. Enjoy
