I agree wholeheartedly (and go further on the campaign trail by promoting universal, automatic voter registration): "Administrative mistakes and bureaucratic burdens shouldn’t deny Americans the ability to make their voices heard in the democratic process, and participate in elections through which we decide on our government. Rather than being distracted by misleading and even false stories about in-person polling place fraud and restricting the right to vote, our elected leadership should focus on solving these real problems and pass Same Day Registration legislation in time for the 2012 election."

A crazy, long day today. We drove 400 miles over the course of 24 hours, and took care of a lot of campaign business, did media interviews, met voters, and finally arrived home (after dark) to lock the ducks in the coop for the night. Thanks (yet again!) to my girlfriend, Christina, for her help, infinite patience, and understanding as we undertake this new -- and vitally important -- adventure.

I'm certainly not surprised that Rep. Olver endorsed his friend and fellow incumbent. But to paraphrase a famous line: When it comes to progressive legislators, we know John Olver. We've seen decades of progressive leadership from John Olver. And Rep. Neal? You're no John Olver. ;)

My goodness, we certainly don't want to advance necessary legislation in the United States Congress without giving the American League of Lobbyists -- and its members who throw big-money fundraisers for our legislators -- a chance to chime in and water it down, right?
