Prairie Wildlife Research Because we were in a National Park, we had to spotlight for black-footed ferrets on foot with backpacks. Old school! It can really wear on a person's body but those Canadians are hearty folks.

Prairie Wildlife Research Made it back from Canada! I don't have the final numbers yet because I had to leave early, but I think it is a great success story so far. Approximately 75% survival of black-footed ferrets released in Grasslands National Park. It is such a wonderful and beautiful area. The village of Val Marie has great people and... such character. I stayed at The Convent Country Inn, which was an actual convent at one time. Pretty cool. Enjoy some pictures of my work in Canada!

Prairie Wildlife Research
is still in Val Marie, Saskatchewan. Canadian black-footed ferrets are a cooperative bunch. We've found 16 of 22 (nearly 75%) ferrets in the areas we released them in one month ago. Tonight we press forward into a new area to find more hopefully. And if you haven't read it yet, check out my blog about the release o...f black-footed ferrets in Canada last month. http://www.smallanimalchannel.com/critte r-blog/ferret-field-blog/livieri-default .aspx
