Please consider reading Dr. Clarence Spigner's recent blog entry ("Myth-making of Sex and the Fiery Latina"), posted on Clarence's Hollywood Blog at BlackPast.org: http://www.blackpast.org/?q=myth-making- sex-and-fiery-latina. Clarence makes some excellent points about Latina stereotypes.

BlackPast.org Lots of "features" on BlackPast.org, including our own recommendation on websites and organizations to take note of. One such organization: "Keep a Child Alive" -- a great non-profit dedicated to caring for orphaned African children stricken with AIDS. Visit the KCA website to see why Alicia Keys, BlackPast.org, and others believe this is an important cause.

Just a footnote about Dr. Vivian Thomas, the renowned pioneer of heart surgery, whose profile is on your website. After reading his book, "Partners of the Heart," I was moved to learn that in addition to the great strides he made in human surgery, Dr. Thomas also pioneered veterineary cardiac surgery. Veterinarians fro…m around the country would send for Dr. Thomas to perform the delicate surgery on their canine patients.
Given that Dr. Thomas had to sacrifice many canine subjects in his quest to find a cure for blue baby syndrome, what a wonderful give-back. I don't know of any other clinicians who made such contributions to two separate branches of science. I am also surprised they left it out of his biopic, "Something the Lord Made."Подробнее
