Hannah Handsman Do you think media coverage in the U.S. is biased? We are looking for people interested in politics to take our Institutional Research Board approved study.

Many people feel that the media can lead people in different ideological directions. We are Smith College students in a Senior Political Psychology Seminar and we... want to invite you to take our survey. We are investigating the relationship between media coverage and political information. If you take our short, confidential survey you can choose to be entered into a raffle for a $50 gift certificate to Amazon.com. If you are interested, follow this link to Surveymonkey.com

Dan Cobb So one of my HOT BUTTONS is the mining industry and travesties like Oregon's Formosa Mine, recently discussed in the Oregonian. I've just published a book. THE MINE, an environmental thriller set in Portland and Oregon's Wallowa Mountains, captures the life and death struggle of a Portland couple as they work to close ...down a massive illegal cyanide leach gold mine in eastern Oregon. Based loosely on the Summitville Gold Mine disaster and others. You can examine at www.themine-thebook.com Partial proceeds benefit the Sierra Club, Oregon Chapter.

Dapo Congratulations to you Blue Oregon! You've been there for us for the past five years, made it possible for us to pass the cookies to one another. Thanks you for your work. We must congratulate our beloved senator Wyden. It's good to know he's listening to the people. To my good friend Chip Shields--congratulations! I trust you would lead.

That's the living definition of "embarrassment of riches." The commissioners pretty much can't do wrong with that strong of a pool.

Justice for Leah is a group dedicated to solving the murder case of 15 year-old Leah Freeman. On June 28, 2000 Leah disappeared as she walked home at 9 p.m. from a friend's house along a busy downtown street in Coquille, OR. Deputies found her body Aug. 3, 2000 at the bottom of an overgrown embankment along a gravel ro...ad about 10 miles northeast of Coquille. Police have said little about the investigation, except that Leah died of "homicidal violence," leaving some people in the town of 4,200 wondering whether local law enforcement has enough resources to solve the crime. Anyone with information regarding Leah’s murder is encouraged to contact the Coquille Police Department at (541) 396-2114, or Coos Stop Crime at (541) 267-6666. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
