Brian Schatz is the CEO of Helping Hands Hawaii, one of Hawaii’s largest nonprofit social service agencies, delivering goods and services to people in need. He was founder of the Draft Obama (Hawaii) Campaign and is Chairman of the Democratic Party of Hawaii, through which he has helped build a more progressive and practical brand of politics. Brian also served as member of the Hawaii State House of Representatives for four terms, where he developed a reputation for being tough, smart, and compassionate, and focusing on public education, economic development, and sustainability.

After graduating from college he came home to start a community nonprofit focusing on engaging young people in community service.
About Me:
Brian grew up in Hawaii, graduating from Punahou School, followed by a B.A. in Philosophy from Pomona College in Claremont, California. While at Pomona, Brian also spent a term studying in Kenya as part of the International Training Program, where Schatz developed skills as a public servant.

After returning to Hawaii, Schatz moved into the non-profit sector as the founder of a community organization that engaged young people in public service. He also briefly taught social studies at Punahou School.

Brian Schatz is married to Linda Kwok Kai Yun Schatz and has two children, Tyler and Mia.
