Burns Auto Parts--Consultants This is brilliant and subtly hilarious. He explains career crises, equality, envy, desire, possibility, insecurity (and its relationship to expensive cars), failure, and offers thoughts on re-defining "success" (hint: you have to do it yourself). http://www.ted.com/talks/alain_de_botton_a_kinder_gentler_philosophy_of_success.html

Burns Auto Parts--Consultants REGISTER YOUR IMAGES!!! On the ASMP Pro/Student forum a photographer has posted his story of having Toyota show (inline link) one of his images from Flickr (marked "all rights reserved") to use on its website. The image is NOT registered with the © office so, sadly, he will likely not recover anything.

Burns Auto Parts--Consultants My brother, a creative of a different kind, was visiting over the weekend and had lots of mis-info about IP rights in photography... and the photo biz in general. We have to keep in mind that most people do not inherently understand our world! Thus, most errors are from ignorance, not something more malicious.

Here’s something you can do right now that will be great for your business (and if you're slow, now is the perfect time): register the copyright for every one of your images. No more excuses...it’s the cheapest insurance you can buy and a great investment in the future of your business. ...

Burns Auto Parts--Consultants BRILLIANT!!! Standardized estimate form... maybe. Pleaseohpleaseohplease!

Source: stocklandmartelblog.com
…Estimates: You can’t live with them, and you can’t live without them. They’re a bear to assemble and often just as complicated to parse if you’re the one doing the hiring. And the fact that everyone uses their own form/format only adds a layer of headache-inducing complexity.

I'm all for this. But I think clients are as diverse on this as are photographers. Standards in the photo industry have been damn hard to come by. Even with technology standards like UPDIG or DPBestFlow available.

While Blinkbid is a good place to start, Where is PLUS on licensing terms and their universal license code that several major publishers have already adopted? How about standard T&C's? Perfect partnership here would be ASMP-Blinkbid-PLUS.
