Center for Health, Environment & Justice Good news! The EPA will be developing new regulations to address toxic chemicals released into the air by PVC chemical plants. Each year, PVC plants pump some 500,000 pounds of vinyl
chloride -- a known human carcinogen -- and many other toxins into the
atmosphere.

Court settlement reached, agency to limit emissions of cancer-causing toxins starting in July 2011

Center for Health, Environment & Justice New study found cleaning products in schools can release over 400 chemicals into the air -- many of which are toxic. Some of these cleaning products are used to maintain PVC flooring in schools, posing hazards to children. http://bit.ly/uaavN

Schools need to use safe cleaning supplies like green cleaning products to protect children from the health effects of toxic chemicals.

Center for Health, Environment & Justice The latest air testing from the EPA found high levels of manganese in the air outside schools - this underscore the need for state and federal policies to prevent the siting of schools near major polluters.
