Who we are

CPSalsa is comprised of a group of passionate individuals that range from Cal Poly students to working professionals from the San Luis Obispo/Central Coast area. This group forms the core of one of the top clubs in Cal Poly today, and helps put together one of the top places to dance salsa in San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast.

What we do

Our mission is to share our passion for salsa dancing and music to people of all backgrounds and ages. This includes providing high quality social activities, instruction, and entertainment, while maintaining an environment that is safe and welcoming. These activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Weekly salsa dancing instruction and open dancing
  • Specialized Latin dance workshops
  • Professional Guest Instructors
  • Salsa Cruises
  • Balls/Dance Nights
  • Live Music and Dancing

Fridays

Every Friday, CPSalsa throws a big dance accompanied by lessons. We offer one hour lessons for all levels starting at 8pm, and additional lessons at 9pm. For those that wish to dance after the lessons, our main floor converts to a club atmosphere at 9pm complete with club lighting, a booming sound system, and a DJ mxing the songs. Workshops

Once or twice a quarter, we try and bring up instructors from Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and more. We often have them teach special workshops on Fridays as well as additional workshops throughout the weekend. In some cases, we even ask them to perform for us! We've brought in such world-renowned names as:

Events

In addition to Friday nights and workshops, we've thrown events ranging from live bands, to masquerade balls. Our most well-known event is our yearly salsa cruise, which takes place in Morro Bay in the Spring. Keep an eye out on our events page for a list of all our upcoming events!

Performances

Finally, we have a performance team dedicated not only to improving their own technique and skills, but to spreading the word about salsa to the community and improving the level of dance in the community.
