Millie, I understand your fear. The question I ask myself is ''Is the community action enough to take in charge these people without heallth care? If it was really working no one would be out of health care because one family member, one friend, one neighbour would pay for someone else less lucky to afford a good health care insurance. But is that... Read More the case? Is there really a solidarity oganized for this? So in my opinion, people disapproving a public health care, taken from their taxes, for the reason you mentionned, should ''sponsorize'' a family who has no health care and allow them to have one.
This is a real choice of society's project but from one side or another poors and oppressed need to be helped in USA. You are paying one of the highest price in this economical downturn and there is so many people unemployed. It's Jesus commandement to help. We can't be indifferent. When you feel very sick and have no way to see a good doctor, have a good medication, just because you have no insurance and no way to pay cash, this is a personal and family drama and this family fall a bit more into poverty. It's a vicious circle.

Great book! Takes a very respectful and judicious approach to exploring issues with the emergent movement, while also giving the "traditional" church a much-needed checkup. Highly recommended!!!

Ironic that his first statement was that he was "humbled". If there is any politician that needs to humble himself before the Lord it's Obama.
