Caneel Bay
On a walk earlier today with our naturalist, Oriel, we came across a number of aptly named Christmas palms. It seemed an appropriately festive part of our local landscape to attach to this note...

Wonderful to see this Caneel Christmas scene as we bundle up here in upstate New York. What do you call the red part of the Christmas palm??.........Looking forward to being there in a few months!

Each part of the day has a specific mood and feel. Arguably one of the most magical times of day here at Caneel is sunset. By the time the twilight hour comes, you have had a rich day...

What a difference a week makes for me too! Last weekend, swimming with the turtles, this weekend digging out a foot of snow. Guess where I'd rather be? :)

Our location is one reason Caneel Bay is so special. The lush surroundings and clear waters are an essential part of the experience here. It is thanks to the Virgin Islands National Park that we are immersed in such spectacular flora and fauna...

Awww! Nothing like sharing a pristine island with deer, donkeys and mongoose! And mosquitoes. But who really remembers those? Hee Hee! Can't wait for the day when I can return to Hawksnest Beach!

The lull of those waves is the most soothing sound I've ever heard...wish I could go to sleep listening to that every nite. I just left Caneel 6 days ago. It was a totally peaceful, relaxing experience that you just can't get anywhere else...

Given the mood of the season, we here at Caneel Bay want to express our gratitude. There is so much to be thankful for. Just going outside and looking at the natural splendor that surrounds us is reason enough to give thanks; for the beaches, the breezes, the flora and fauna...

You may or may not know Shaka, one of our groundsmen at Caneel Bay, but you are sure to know and remember how wonderful a fresh coconut can be. The tasty fruit is perfect. The water within the fresh coconut is full of flavor and contains more potassium and electrolytes than any drink you can buy...

We just got back from spending Thanksgiving at Caneel. Tony, Miles is gone. Some question regarding whether he resigned or was dismissed, but either way, he is gone. The bar cart is in Warren's capable hands. (not that we don't miss Miles).
