Brian Llewellyn Beware of this service as it causes more problems than it solves. The only way I was able to get anyone to help me was to file a Better Business Bureau complaint and then it was still like pulling teeth. Choose Mozy and you will be that much happier.

We have Carbonite on approx. 50 free-standing devices. Have had to do 3 restores, no issues except the slowness of the download (asked a long time ago for media availability). Their regular support is very spotty (a lot depends on who you get connected to)... we use upgraded support, no issues. Typical of a company growing very fast: decent product... See More; support always lags behind product development. Hopefully it will catch up!

Final thought: our backups we use Carbonite for are relatively simple, seldom exceeding 40GB: the problems I hear and see relate to complex backups and configurations. For our complex stuff we use Amazon S3 bucket with proprietary transmission process. I don't think Carbonite is really designed for much above "the masses."

On day 3 of recovery. By the rate its downloading, I could have driven to the data center, burned the 7-8 dvds and driven back. Nothing too complicated to restore either. I had it set to backup only 1 folder.

Malcolm Surgenor just watched "Things we lost in the fire". Absolutely brilliant film but in the middle of it I thought 'thank goodness for Carbonite'. How random is that!

Mike So I made the switch from PC to Mac only to find that the one-year Carbonite subscription I purchased will not transfer?

Mike - You can transfer your subscription from PC to Mac. Unfortunately, Carbonite cannot move your files from the PC to Mac b/c of the difference in file structure. However if you move your files manually, or want to start from scratch, you can move your subscription from a pc to a mac. Just call our customer support team for assistance.

Doug Otto I've had Carbonite for over 2 weeks. It's backed up 60gb.

I've had BackBlaze for 3 days. It's backed up 100gb

I think I know which I'll be renewing next year.

5 days in, BackBlaze has completed my full backup of 200gb. Carbonite has been at it for 3 weeks and has only backed up 67gb.

Sorry Carbonite but that's pretty sad. You've got my $50 for this year already but you won't be getting anything from me when renewal time comes.
