Giancarlo Fruzzetti I see USSF refused to sanction USL or NASL.....but we should expect this considering the tight relationship between MLS and USSF, US professional soccer is something of a current mess, MLS included, as it appears they'll be on strike by the end of the month.

I guess I'll just go ahead and say I've long considered Sunil Gulati, along with much of the USSF governance, to be grossly incompetent, and an impediment on the growth ofUS soccer. Example 1: project 2010, USSF created in '98 to make USA contender for the 2010 WC title. hahaha. How's that working out?

But I digress. I suspect this action has... See More to do with preventing a competing league to run during the upcoming likely MLS strike, as quite a few players will depart and try to play elsewhere. Instead of trying to help soccer grow, USSF is trying to protect the MLS monopoly, although another league would actually help grow MLS by continuing to raise the profile of professional soccer in the US. Instead of all of these college boys who played some soccer in the Ivy League and think they understand the game, genuine professionals from places like the FA, FIGC, and DFB need to be brought in to show the USSF how to run a sanctioning body.

i went to both days of the Audi Cup (pre-season matches hosted by Bayern Munich) this past summer--they were 50 Euros each. Imagine regular season is higher. And getting literally frisked at the gate was odd, as was not having someone tear the ticket--I stuck in a scanner and the turnstile opened.
