Another 255 acres of forestland near Tiger and Mission lakes will be protected from development under a conservation easement purchased with $480,000 in state funds. The area lies in the headwaters of the Union River, an important salmon stream, and includes sensitive wetlands and forest habitats.

Forterra, formerly the Cascade Land Conservancy, is Washington’s largest independent land conservation, stewardship and community building organization. Since our foundation we’ve conserved over 173,000 acres of land around the state. In 2005, Forterra broke ground with our Cascade Agenda, a long-range vision and imm...ediate action plan that aims to conserve 1.3 million acres of land. The Agenda recognizes the equally critical role cities, towns and sustainable economies play in conserving land. When people live in complete, compact, and connected cities with strong economies it prevents the sprawl that takes over our wild and working lands. The Cascade Agenda led to the Olympic Agenda, an emerging conversation about communities, economy, and conservation on the Olympic Peninsula. See More

            • Join us for tomorrow night for the latest in the series of discussions hosted by Cascade Land Conservancy about the Central Issaquah Plan. Wednesday, 11/16 at 7pm at the Hailstone Feed Store, 232 Front St N. This week's conversation will center on land use from housing, commercial space and mixed-use, to recreational space and public amenities. This may not sound like it's transportation focused, but this is really where "alternative" transportation lives or dies. It's the land use decisions that can control whether there's a grocery store in walking distance from your house or not.

Hope to see you there! Let us know if you think you might come so we can pass along the numbers to Andrea.
