Christianity Today made an interesting short video about the Prosperity Gospel in Africa. For sure the culture there is very different, here is an interesting look into how prosperity can be a very compelling doctrine.

Offence has no place in the body of Christ. Our Lord did not take offence at any treatment he received, therefore we have no right to offence either.

good question...check the volunteer application. I bet they'd let you help anyway if you explain your situation.

We all know that global poverty is a huge problem. But often, it seems desperately paralyzing. The problem is so big and there are so many people who need help ... and each of us is only one person who's possibly not making very much extra money anyway...

There are 112 instances of the word "church" in the bible. Most of them refer to "The Church" as the entire body of believers. Somewhere along the way some leaders have gotten the idea that churches are in competition with each other - that it's about growing their event bigger than other churches...

This is great advice. All to often it becomes all about what we are doing instead of what He is doing.

Sadly there is lots of fragmentation and competition in The Church. It's hard to see that we're all working together or that we have a common goal. It feels like churches are competing restaurants, instead of food banks.

i go to a non denominational church and my pastors are very adamant about making sure we follow Jesus and not some denomination. how come some churches choose to define themselves by the beliefs of a certain denomination when Jesus said "Follow me." He didn't say follow the baptists, the lutherans, the catholics, or even the non denominational ... See Morechurch itself. thats why churches are separated because everybody has the same goal but different ways of doing things right? why do churches have to believe that the way they do things is always the right way?! it drives me crazy because the true goal is not achieved even when a non denominational church has distractions.
