I read these books with my 14 y/o daughter and it was one of the best choices I ever made. I knew what she was reading and could answer any questions and have honest discussions about a lot of what if"s? My daughter realized on her own that Bella is not someone to emulate, that it can't be healthy to be that obsessed with a boy, but it was also ... Read Moregood to see that it reinforced the things I had taught her. I also liked how it portrayed "family" as not only biological, how the werewolves were protectors of their family-strong male models who in the end allowed a female to become a protector as well. Not HP at all in my mind, and one can only make that judgement once they've read both series at age appropiate times.

Read Moreyou don't have to be a certain way, that you choose how you live, that you can overcome...personally, I find the books a bit sappy and the obsession with Edward unhealthy, but that's a good discussion for girls too...kids like fantasy...that's one of the reasons why lion, witch and wardrobe has been popular for so many years...

Let them prove it - and own up to indiscretions of the past 40 years. Much safer and surer to give directly to individual charities that can be verified than to a very questionably supervised slush fund.

liberation theology is inherently dishonest... atheistic Marxism trying to cover itself with Christianity... it's a newer and more debased kind of Simony, but you are trying to buy the gifts of the spirit with political power and other people's money.
