Chris Pan (Marketer) pretty exciting to hear from the world's largest advertiser and very successful company: " It was particularly interesting to see how bullish they are on
Facebook. In a small group discussion about social media, one of
P&G's technology leaders talked about Facebook's growth trajectory
and how they are on a path to ser...ve 5 billion people. Accordingly,
P&G feels that it needs to have a significant presence on Facebook.
If you are wondering if Facebook is making any money, you need look no
further than P&G. It is clear that Proctor & Gamble is working
with Facebook in a big way -- as an advertising platform and a brand
destination. P&G's explicit goal for 2010 is to assure that each of
its brands has a meaningful presence on Facebook and they are willing
to pay dearly for that."

Chris Pan (Marketer) vitaminwater invited fans to design a flavor... here's the winner: "CONNECT". here's the text from the bottle:
"we caught you. no use denying it. your fingerprints are all over this
bottle. after connecting on Facebook, you voted on the flavor &
designed the label—it was great having you do all the work! and since
you’ve ...been so busy pretending not to notice friend requests for about
3 days, posting pics of events (that you’re still at), and clicking
through photos of ‘friends’ you barely know (ever get nervous they can
tell?), better crack open this bottle. it’s got 8 key nutrients from
vitamin a to zing plus caffeine to give you some extra energy… because
based on last night’s pics, it looks like you’ve got some serious
untagging to do."

Chris Pan (Marketer) I just donated $5 for Haiti earthquake relief via SMS by texting "yele" to 501501. This works if you are in the US. Outside the US go to http://yele.org Yele is a non-profit run by Wyclef Jean.

Chris Pan (Marketer) Glad to see major brands really understanding how best to engage consumers with social media: “We would like to place our activities and brands where people are, rather than dragging them to our platform,” Pinakatt added. Unilever is also abandoning campaign sites in favour of long-term community engagement platforms....Cheryl
Calverley, Unilever UK’s senior global manager for Axe Skin, said,
“You’ll see fewer brands creating a site for one campaign and then
throwing it away. Certainly we won’t do that at Unilever any more.“It’s
natural online to go to the place where people are already consuming
media,” she added. “It’s less effort to ask people to leave an
environment they’re already in.” The shift has caused some digital media specialists to question the long-term future of campaign sites...
