Church of Christ the Healer
Laconia Therrio, a story-teller well known to schoolchildren and adults in the Stamford area, will be featured at “Welcome Home Sunday” at the Church of Christ the Healer on Sunday, September 13th. Therrio will tell some biblical tales from memory during the 10 a.m. worship service, and delight children with a special ...story just for them after the service. “Laconia doesn’t just tell stories,” says Kate Heichler, the church’s pastor. “He invites listeners into them. He makes space for the stories to tell themselves.”
Worship that morning will be especially family-friendly, with children invited to participate in different parts of the service. It will also be geared toward visitors. “When we say, ‘Welcome home,’ that includes people who’ve never been here before,” Heichler says. “We say, ‘Welcome home to a place where you can be who you truly are. Welcome home to the family you didn’t know you had.’” Worship at Christ the Healer is joyful and heart-felt, with lively music and a direct approach. A picnic will follow the worship service. All are welcome to the worship, at 10 a.m., and/or the picnic, at 11:15 (reservations requested for the picnic – 203-322-6991).
To the family you didn't know you had... to a place where you can be who you truly are.
