I have to believe that Joel Petty accidently hit the "like" button. How tragic and devistating for the families and church (s) involved. The families are in my prayers.

I wonder how often CoC congregations shut down for illness? In my experience, they rarely give up the fight, even for weather, unless it's very extreme blizzards or hurricanes.

Ralph McClurg is my cousin. Cut and pasted from his status a few minutes ago: "OK here only 10 miles from the Honduras border. The ES embassy says no problem. I am to get papers and containers tomorrow. Will get it done quickly and go home." Please pray for a safe return.

How sad to lose someone who loved God and others before himself, who knew where true happiness was ~ not in self or material things but in serving those less fortunate. He was much wiser than most adults today who love material things over family and God. We send our condolences to the family and will be keeping them in thought and prayer.

Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 Heaven is surely a better place.

I have been a custodial grandparent for almost 7 years of two little boys. When our world was turned upside down by the arrest of our son and daughter-in-law, we suddenly became parents again to a toddler and an infant. We were so grateful to our wonderful church family for supporting us both emotionally and through monetary gifts. Some of these... Read More gifts were specified for certain things - and others were given to us to use as we needed for whatever purpose to make a home for two little boys who had lost theirs.
Mary Winkler lost her right to parent those girls when she was incarcerated. The Winklers were awarded legal custody which entitled them to use monetary gifts as they saw fit for the physical and emotional welfare of those girls.
Now that Mary has regained custody, she is responsible for providing for their needs - I would like to think that she would be grateful that the girls had grandparents and friends who gave them security and provided for their needs ...period!

First of all, Dan Winkler should not be paying for Attorney fees because his son should not have been murdered. Mary Winkler made a choice; now she has to work like any other single parent to provide for them. She has her freedom; what more should she be given..........

Mary Winkler, you have your children, you have a job, now find out what it is like to raise three daughters as a single parent!! Most of all you have your Freedom. Dan and Diane Winkler shouldn't have been put in a position to pay out any legal fees period. WHY? Because their son shouldn't be dead. Think on that for awhile.

The problem is that there are the allegations that the Winklers were spending the trust money on themselves, not the granddaughters. And that there is evidence in support of those allegations. Therein lies the problem...

I stayed single until I was 53 ~ met my husband on the church of Christ single's site in 2001 and married him in Sept 2003 and give thanks every day for the wonderful man I married. But boy were the single days difficult at times, especially since I have post polio and have gone through alot of surgeries and health issues. I pray that everyone out there will stay firm in their belief, take the time to get to know someone and marry only a Christian. Your children's souls depend on it !!

Kenneth and Carol, I totally agree with both of you. After deciding to become a Christian, your choice of a marriage partner is the most important decision you can make. Stay strong in your Faith.
